CRUISE OUT TO ANACAPA ISLAND IN SEARCH OF LOCAL MARINE LIFE!

The Anacapa Shoreline Cruise is a great introduction to the Channel Islands National Park. Passengers get a chance to view seabirds, seals, dolphins, and other marine mammals in the waters of the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary and Channel Islands National Park.

This area of the ocean is known to have more marine mammals in its waters than any other area on the planet.

Traveling from the mainland to Anacapa Island you may see Harbor Seals, California Sea Lions, Common Dolphins, Pacific White-sided, or Risso’s Dolphins. While this is not a whale watch, during certain seasons there is also a chance of spotting Gray or Humpback Whales (mainly winter/spring). We never know what we are going to see, but these excursions are always an adventure.

We will also cruise the rugged shoreline of Anacapa Island.  Cruising Anacapa Island you will see the famous Arch Rock that is the landmark for the park as well as the seals and sea lions that make their home on the shore beneath the high cliffs.  Visitors can also view the working lighthouse atop the island.

Anacapa Island is home to one of the largest breeding populations of Brown Pelicans on the west coast.  Western Gulls breed on all three islet of Anacapa, forming the largest breeding colony of Western Gulls in the world.  Birds abound in the water, on the land and in the skies around Anacapa Island.

Relaxing and educational, the wildlife cruise is a great way to discover the marine environment and spend quality time with friends and family.
