Willows Anchorage

Willows Anchorage is located on the southwest side of the island. This is one of the most picturesque anchorages on Santa Cruz. Offshore rocks and sandstone bluffs accentuate a pristine white sand beach. Willows sits at the mouth of one of the larger watersheds on the south side. The anchorage boasts a rich natural and human history. You can explore the area with an Island Packer naturalist on a mild to moderate walk.

You may also want to bring swim or snorkel gear to take advantage of the fairly protected cove and shallow reef that teems with inter-tidal life. (Be aware there is no lifeguard on duty.) Or just enjoy the warm sand and beautiful view with a picnic lunch.

The Crossing

The crossing to and from Ventura will take you along the south shore of the island, where the unique geology and varied history will be highlighted by the crew. The water is warmer on the south side, so the potential for rare wildlife sightings is greater as well.

Access to the anchorage is via a shore boat directly onto the beach.

All visitors going to this destination must have a signed release form from The Nature Conservancy. You can print the form or request one from the front desk when you sign in.
