Back to Floating Classroom: School Field Trips
Information for Potential Funding of Floating Classroom Field Trips
Through a partnership with Terra Marine Research & Education, Inc., a 501(C)3 organization dedicated to providing marine science learning experiences for students K-12, Island Packers receives sponsorships for eligible classrooms to take educational trips to the Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary from their “No Child Left Inside” program.
For more information on TMRE and other projects they fund, visit www.tmre.org
“No Child Left Inside” funding is available for up to 30 students plus one teacher. All additional students and chaperones will need to be covered by you, as will your transportation to and from the Island Packers office. To qualify for funding, you must be
• Based in California
• A formal K-12 classroom group (no camps, or after school programs)
• Apply for a "Floating Classroom" day trip (no overnight groups)
• Able to demonstrate financial need.
If you meet these requirements, fill out this application and submit to education@tmre.org.
Funding will be granted as eligible classes are matched with sponsors. Sponsors are not always available.

You can also identify your own sponsor! Download the "No Child Left Inside" brochure for the 2010 school year and have your PTA or other support group contact local businesses to fund your class through a tax deductable donation. If you would like supporting material to send to potential sponsors, please request this material from education@tmre.org

Thank you in your interest in sharing the Floating Classroom experience with your students.
